Founded in 1953. The campus under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. It is a science-oriented university located in Xuanwu District in the east suburban area of Nanjing. It is one of the seven universities affiliated to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

It is home to a total of 20 schools led by a total of 70 undergraduate majors, 116 master programs and 49 doctoral programs, and 14 Post-doctoral research stations. With an enrollment of more than 30,000 students, including around 800 international students.

Due to its impressive ranking, it becomes the first preference of most foreign students. It also ranked among the top medical universities in the world.
